Give me an eyeshadow palette in neutral colors and I promise to give you a variety of looks using it. That was story behind my entry for the Avon You Make It Beautiful Blogger Challenge. When the finalists were asked to each pick a kit with products in random shades and color to be used in our entry, I was silently wishing for a neutral eyeshadow quad. I am so comfortable in using neutrals that I know it wouldn't be hard for me to create a look with it. With all the angels in heaven listening to me that night, my wish was granted.
For my entry, I was able to play around with neutrals using it not just as eyeshadow but as eyeliner and as contouring powder. Well, you could also do so given that you have a neutral eyeshadow quad or palette, especially if it is the shades of brown. If you are looking for a great neutral eyeshadow quad, you may want to try my recent favorite quad -- the Avon True Color Eyeshadow Quad in Chocolate Sensation.
Prior to the Avon Blogger Challenge, the only product I am confident in getting from Avon is their lipstick. It is not that their other products are not good, I just don't think it would be something I'd like. Good thing, I was given a chance to be part of the challenge and try out the newest makeup formulation Avon has. It was through that I met the eyeshadow quad that would be a permanent resident of my everyday makeup kit.
I LIKE that it ...
- has a good color payoff. You get exactly what you see on the pan.
- stays on the lids even without a primer.
- is very easy to blend.
- is numbered for an easy-breasy makeup application, especially for beginners.
- has a matte brown shade which can be used as a liner and/or as a contouring powder.
- has shades that compliment each other. I also like that the shimmers of shades 1, 2 and 3 are not too overwhelming.
- is not powdery.
- is housed in a sleek, black packaging that fits well in my kit.
- is affordable at Php449.00.
I DON'T LIKE that ...
- I can't think of any!
Will I repurchase?
YES!
In this eye makeup, I used 1 to highlight my brow bones and tearducts, 2 on the inner thirds of the lids, 3 to define my crease and 4 to line the lower lash line and define the outer V. I did the makeup at around 10:00 in the morning and I was surprised that everything was still intact after about 5 hours.
I also used 4 to contour my nose and my cheeks. Shade 4 is way darker than what I normally use but blending it with a dab of a powder that is in my shade did the trick.
The texture of the eyeshadows in the Avon True Color Eyeshadow Quads are very much comparable to high end eyeshadows but in a much affordable price. If you are new to makeup and would like to get an eyeshadow quad that is worthy of your money, go and call your Avon lady so you can have your hands on Avon True Color Eyeshadow Quads. For neutrals, get Chocolate Sensation.
I still have a few Avon True Color Eyeshadow Quads to play with. I can't wait to create looks with it and share it with all of you! :)
*I am part of the Avon Makeup Council and the makeup reviewed and featured was given for free to be used on the challenge. Nevertheless, all my opinions and thoughts were honest and were not influenced in any way.
Have you found your favorite neutral eyeshadow palette? :)
