I seldom wear foundation. So seldom that I already forgot that I have a number, in different forms and types, in my stash. My addiction to skincare has been doing wonders on my skin that I no longer find the need to whip up a base makeup on an everyday basis. But of course, on days that I need to front a full glam or on times my hormones are acting up like crazy, I still have to be backed up with a foundation with decent coverage.
I have the Shu Uemura Face Architect Sheer Refining Mousse Foundation for more than 6 months now and I have used it around 3-4 times. It has a lightweight texture and a light-medium coverage to boast. When I first used it, I immediately felt how light it is on the skin. It covers imperfections in an instant too.
I am so-so with the mouse formulation. This foundation was the first in its kind that I have tried as I am used with liquids and creams. It feels different, in a good way. The foamy texture takes a while to become liquid. I usually swirl a brush on top of the foam to hasten its change of texture.
The shade Light Sand is a bit dark and yellow for my skin tone but workable. I set it with a powder that matches my skin to make it match my color. The texture is best applied with a damp sponge to achieve a good coverage.
This is how one layer of Shu Uemura Face Architect Sheer Refining Mousse Foundation fares on me. It immediately cancels out blemishes and evens out my color. Another layer, or a concealer, may be needed to totally conceal scars but one layer is fine for me.

The formula dries quickly so make sure to blend it quick. It dries matte on the face making it perfect for those with oily skin. As for me, it somehow emphasizes the dryness and flakiness of some areas of my face and settles on the fine lines.
The photo below was taken after about 20 minutes. The foundation was completely set by this point. If you look closer to the photo, you would notice the dryness around my nose. The foundation also emphasized my smile lines and the lines around my eyes.
It stays in place the whole day with minimal need for blotting and retouching. It photographs nice too. All the positives it has are off the chart but I might say pass on the possibility of repurchasing. I just think it will never work well with my dry skin. Don't get me wrong, though, this is a good foundation. We just don't match.
I know a handful of people who have high praises on the Shu Uemura Face Architect Sheer Refining Mousse Foundation. It might work on you too! I am pretty sure it still available in Shu Uemura outlets nationwide at Php2,250.
For someone who doesn't use foundation in an everyday basis, continuous accumulation of it, in different types, can be a problem. I have a number of bottles and compacts in my stash that are waiting to be used. I have given away some while most of them are still there, in my cabinet, screaming for attention. I have heard them, thus, I will go through them, one by one, and give them the attention they all deserve. Are you excited? I am! Stay tuned for more foundation and face makeup reviews and features! :)
