Maybelline Hypermatte Liquid Liner | Dark. Bold and Matte for only Php199!

When I was starting playing with makeup, it was the eyeliner part that I dreaded the most. The first one I got back then, well that was roughly 7 years ago, was a dip type. It was a struggle, I tell you. The brush felt stiff and the application was a horror. I couldn't seem to find the best way to use it. That thing  between me and dip liners ran for n number of months until I met pen-type liquid liners.

When I received the Maybelline Hypermatte Liquid Liner, I knew it was time to, again, give dip liners a try. After all, I think I have mastered the art of liner application that I can make this second chance work.

Maybelline Hypermatte Liquid Liner is housed in a usual dip liner packaging. No fancy-looking designs, nor grand handles or colors. It comes in a plain, very dip liner-looking packaging. It is not negative, in my opinion. It is simple and straight to the point. No biggie, actually, but it won't standout in a pool of makeup that are colorfully and designs-filled packaged.

It has a brush applicator that is soft enough to not irritate the eyes and hard enough to draw on a nice fleek. Sorry, I don't know where the photo of it went! Grr. The length and thickness of the brush are easy to control but still, beginners may need a little more practice to get the hang of it.

The hypermatte claim is controversial. It dries matte but not dead-dry matte. It still has a slight hint of sheen, in my opinion. But nevertheless, it is still matte and bold compared to other liners.

One dip gives you great pigmentation. No need to layer on the lines because it gives an opaque finish in one go. Once it sets, it stays. It is not waterproof but it somehow resists sweat and oil. It is easy to remove too. Just wash your face with water and it will immediately slide off. The downside? It feels a bit rubbery. I noticed that when it reaches the 8-hour mark, it starts to flake. It is barely noticeable, actually.

I am not much of a fan of how it looks on its own. I use it often to seal in the edges of my false lashes. The finish of the Maybelline Hypermatte Liquid Liner blends well with the false lashes making everything look natural and seamless.

This eyeliner, alongside the new releases, is available in all Maybelline counters nationwide. A new pen-type Maybelline eyeliner has been released too. You might want to check it out if you don't work well with dip liners. :)

So how do I now fare with a dip liner? Pretty good, na? *Jes taps her back!*
