Happy Monday! I hope you had a blast on your very long weekend! I sure did! We, the bf and I, went on a long drive to Zambales to check the church and finalize the menu for our wedding reception. Yes, you read that right! After almost 12 years of being together, we are making it formal and legal, and finally, we will be getting married! It will happen so soon that I am already feeling the thrills and the stress of it. Nevertheless, I am excited and happy with the new journey I will be soon embarking!
Speaking of journeys, let me share with you what happened on my underarm treatments journey with Finessa Aesthetica. The first session was more on hair removal. Read what happened on the first session here.
Just like what Dr. Tiongson told me after the first session, there was a sporadic growth of hair. This occurrence was expected since I just shaved before my first treatment and it will take a minimum of 3 IPL sessions to see the effect of it. I was also told not to do anything with my underarms in preparation for the second session.
Exactly a week after, I went back for the second treatment. Below was how my underarm looked like before the treatments -- bumpy with uneven color. There were hair grew in some areas which was nothing but normal. Warning: underarm photos (with hair) to follow!
The second session was about skin peeling. Before the treatments, my underarms were cleaned from any leftover products and dirt with an alcohol. Right after cleansing, Diamond Silk Skin treatment was done.
Diamond Silk Skin (DSS) is a technology that combines microdermabrasion and vacuum suction to remove dry, dull and flaky skin. The tool is armed with a diamond tip that exfoliates dead skin cells. This treatment can improve skin condition and lessen dark spots, scars and fine lines.
If you have tried the usual diamond peel, then how the DSS feels on the underarms is no longer a surprise. After about 10 minutes of peeling, my underarms looked like this:
Bumps and dark spots were reduced and the scars were somehow lightened. The full effect of DSS will only be noticeable on the second or third cycle but what happened was still an improvement.
After the DSS, a chemical was applied to remove the damaged outer layer of the skin. I was advised to be extra gentle with my underarms. If it gets itchy in the process, just tap it and never scratch it.
Three days after the second session, my underarms started to become bumpy again due to hair follicles (as shown in black spots). Again, these are expected to happen in the next few more sessions. Some of the hair that grew fell off which is an indication that the first session of IPL worked.
According to Dr. Tiongson, peeling of the skin will start on the 3rd to 5th day after the chemical was applied and that the third session will be done once the peeling stopped. I was a bit worried, at first, because I didn't see any skin peeling off. Just today, I noticed some parts starting to shed. Woohoo!
I'll be back with the updates on the 3rd session! Stay tuned!
